Microsoft warns on previously unseen Internet explorer Bug.

 

Microsoft has released a temporary software fix for a newly discovered bug in its Internet Explorer web browser.

The problem, which affects hundreds of millions of IE browser users, is being used by attackers to install the Poison Ivy trojan.
This piece of malware is used to steal data or take remote control of PCs.
Microsoft moved quickly to address the issue. In a blog post, it said that it was "working to develop a security update".

So-called zero-day, or newly discovered, vulnerabilities are rare. According to security firm Symantec, only eight such bugs were spotted in 2011.

Cellphones carry 10 times more bacteria than most toilet seats

 Your mobile phone may have more bacteria on an average than a toilet seat, a new study has claimed.

Researchers from the University of Arizona found that there were up to 10 times the amount of bugs which can cause nausea and stomach problems in mobile phones than were present in a lavatory, the Daily Mail reported.

Mobile phones are often passed between people which spreads the germs around— but they are never cleaned which means the diseases keep on building up, researchers said.

Charles Gerba, a microbiologist at the University of Arizona, said during his ongoing experiments he found that bugs get onto a phone because it is so close to our hands and mouths.

“Since mobiles are electronic items some people are reluctant about cleaning them. Phones are just not part of our cleaning routine whereas we should think about giving them a wipe with an antibacterial substance every now and then,” Gerba was quoted as saying by the paper.

After entering the details in SB >> ECS Debits & Credits form, the transactions are not reflected in LOT. After entering the details in the COUNTER login, the transaction should be authorized by the Supervisor. Only after the transaction is authorized by the supervisor, it will be reflected in the LOT. 3. Cleared RD PRSS/agent cheques are not shown in ‘RD PRSS Post Entries’ form for selection. While preparing the cheque list, select the scheme as ‘RDPRSS’ in case of agent’s providing softcopy of the list created through ‘RD Customer Package 3.0’ provided by SDC with version 6.6.1 . These RD PRSS cheques will be displayed in ‘Post RD PRSS Entries’ form for selection after clearance. 4. RD Bulk cheques are not shown in ‘RD Bulk Acceptance’ form. While preparing the cheque list, select the scheme as ‘RDBULK’ if the list is to be entered manually through ‘Bulk Posting’ form. In 'Reports >> NSC Reports >> Certificates Purchased through Agent' form, an error message 'No transactions available for this day' is displayed even when transactions are available for the day. Beginning tomorrow (1^st September 2012) India will be among the select few countries in the world to have stringent EMF( Electromagnetic Frequency)  Radiation Standards, established in the interest of public health, for mobile towers and mobile handsets. Indian standards would now be 10 times more stringent than more than 90% countries in the world.

The following are the highlights of the Standards :

Mobile Towers (EMF Radiation Norms)

Ø EMF ( Electromagnetic Frequency) exposure limit (Base Station Emissions) has been lowered to 1/10^th of the existing ICNIRP exposure level, effective 1^st Sept. 2012.

Ø Telecom Enforcement Resource & Monitoring (TERM) Cells have been entrusted with the job of conducting audit on the self certification furnished by the Service Providers. TERM Cell will carry out test audit of 10% of the BTS site on random basis and on all cases where there is a public complaint. 

Ø Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC) has revised the Test Procedure for measurement of EMF for verification of EMF compliance for BTS towers in accordance with new standards.

Ø For non-compliance of EMF standards, a penalty of Rs. 5 lakhs is liable to be levied per BTS per Service Provider.

Ø The BTS site details i.e. self certification, registration with TERM Cell, test results etc. is proposed to be provided on DoT web site for General Public information.

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Here is a good news for the customers of postal services. Now, the money orders will become hassle-free and can be disbursed via an SMS. The trials are completed and the services are expected to be launched soon.
The state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has developed a customized application to facilitate money order service to 155,000 post offices across India. BSNL is the technology enabler and this service will remain operator neutral.
Speaking to CIOL, BSNL CMD RK Upadhyay said that they are working as per the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the department of post (DoP). "We are in the final stages of service rollout" he informed.
The government initially chose Bihar and Punjab to initiate the service since a lot of immigrant workers hail from these states.

Infosys bags Rs 700 crore deal from India Post for implementing Core Banking Solutions

  Infosys was selected by the India's Department of Post, for implementing core banking and insurance solutions in 150,000 post offices across the country, as well as installing ATMs. This project estimated at Rs 700 crore, aims to transform India Post into a technology-enabled autonomous entity.

Under this, Infosys will implement and manage its Finacle Core Banking and McCamish Insurance products. It will install around 1,000 ATMs for India Post along with an electronic content management system to manage millions of documents generated as part of India Post's financial operations.

It will also participate in designing, building, supplying, installing and commissioning hardware and software, data migration and deployment of the platforms and solutions across all identified post offices.

Infosys would also train more than 35,000 India Post employees across the country on the usage and deployment of the new platform and solutions.

R NET COMMUNICATION MODULE-COMMON PROBLEMS NOTICED AND SOLUTION

   In some of the sub offices, R Net module   stops automatically.  Then data will not be transmitted to central server.     Remove the Rnet communication module from the Auto start.  For this select the option RUN from start menu of windows and type  MSCONFIG  and unckeck  Rnetcommunication.exe from startup option.  Then add a scheduled task to run the R net commincation.exe using the option Accessories--->system tools--->Task scheduler(in win 7) /scheduled tasks(in win XP)   option.  While adding the scheduled task do not select the option,  When I logon. Select the option Daily and give a time to run the R net communication .exe.  The time should be  the time  after 10 or 15 minutes when the server and client system started.  Suppose server and client starts at 9 O clock, then give the time as 09:10. 

  In the case of some sub offices, booking details are updated in site. But Delivery details are not updated in site. In this case check the following.

a) Check whether Non delivery code is given correctly in My office->environment of postman module.   Non delivery code in the case of delivery office will be  00

b) check whether communication module path given is correct or not.

  In some of the offices it is noticed that even though the communication module is running Data is not transmitted to central server.  In that case please check whether   trxcheck.log file is there in C:\Program Files\RegisterNet Communication\TXD  folder.  If present, delete this file. Data will be transmitted to Central server.

An office will reflect in R Net enabled office list on a particular day , only when  booking of RL  is done on that day. The delivery data will be updated in the site correctly and that office will reflect in Delivery MIS. 

IndiaPost gets into domestic and global marketing of Saffron, world's costliest spice

SILIGURI: Like the service 'Tea Post,' introduced couple of years back from Darjeeling, now Indiapost gets into marketing of Saffron, believed to be world's costliest spice. After national stepping, India post plans to launch the service at international level too.

The service was launched today (Wednessday) by Jenab Gulam Hassan Mir, Hon'ble Minister of Agriculture of J & K at Pampore, the saffron hub of the state as well as Country.

"J & K Postal department, in association with the local growers and dealers of Saffron, is getting involved in promoting and marketing world's best Saffron from Kashmir. The item will be marketed and delivered through India Post across the under the brand name 'Saffron post' after intensive quality control check by the State Government approved institution," said, Mr. John Samuel, Chief Post Master General. "Based upon the national level response, we will get into the international market too with this brand," said Mr. Samuel.

Saffron is believed to be the costliest spice in the world. As estimated, while costing Rs 1 lakh a kg in wholesale level, it sales at a price of Rs 200 per Gram at retail. Near 2 lakh people in J & k are directly dependent on Saffron cultivation.
